Located at the new BLVD at Lenox retail development at 1045 5th Street, the new Target store hours are 8AM to 11PM seven days a week, photo internet recreation.

The location is Target’s first Miami-area “compact store”, and the first in South Florida, at almost 33,000 square feet. The more common big-box Targets can range in size from 120,000 to 200,000 square feet. By comparison, the Midtown Miami Target is 141,114 square feet, around four times the size.

The compact store has a Starbucks Coffee and CVS Pharmacy, food and grocery items, along with healthcare and beauty, clothing and tech items sold. According to CBS 4 Miami, the company plans to have more than 130 small-format stores by the end of 2019.

The South Beach Target is located on the second floor of the BLVD at Lenox, which is just off the MacArthur Causeway, and one building east of the shopping center with a Publix, Total Wine and Best Buy.

“Retailers are having to change the way they think about brick-and-mortar stores,” Michael Comras, founder of the Comras Company, the real estate development and brokerage firm that developed the property, told the Miami Herald.

“Target has changed their entire program. They’re now going into smaller urban markets where they can take on the role of a community store, because they are competing against online retailers. These smaller stores sell products customized to their area.”

Scott Needelman of the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association shared, “Most people seem to be excited about the new Target store opening. It offers another location for residents to buy the ‘basics’ at a lower price.”

Adding, “However, some of these same people are the ones that decry big box stores and how they drive away the local mom and pop businesses.”

Target already had five locations in Miami; Miami Central at 3401 N Miami Ave, Bird Road at 7795 SW 40th St, Dadeland at 8350 S Dixie Hwy, Kendall at 15005 SW 88th St, and Cutler Ridge at 20500 SW 112th Ave.

In June, it was reported that Target was looking to hire approximately 100 employees for their Miami Beach store, and hosting a job fair from June 21st through June 23rd at the Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay.
