MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – The world over, lobsters are regarded as a gourmet dish, but it was not always so. In 1622, the governor of Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts, William Bradford, was embarrassed to admit the only food they “could present was a lobster … without bread or anything else but a cup of fair water”.
Now of course lobster is celebrated among the most elite dishes, often listed at ‘market price’ on the expensive corner of the menu. In 2014, Senators Angus King and Susan Collins of Maine went so far as drafting a joint resolution designating September 25th as National Lobster Day, and here are some great options to indulge in Miami Beach.
The Lobster Shack, at 40 South Pointe Drive, located at the southern most area of South Beach, is a casual and affordable homage to the delicacy. Jori Lingenfelser explained, “We will have a special for Lobster Day, $20 for a live Maine lobster with lobster bisque, a lobster roll with lobster bisque, or a lobster cocktail with lobster bisque.”
Lure Fishbar, the Miami Beach outpost of the critically-acclaimed New York City restaurant located at the iconic Loews Miami Beach Hotel offers an array of Lobster-centric specials perfect for celebrating.
On September 25th, the restaurant will be offering a Dungeness Crab Stuffed Lobster & Wine Pairing ($60) – 1.5 lb. Whole Lobster, stuffed with Dungeness crab, garlic, chili butter and grilled lemon.
Paired with a glass of Francois Carillon 2015 Bourgogne (France). Signature lobster favorites also on offer include the Lobster Tempura Roll with Shishito peppers, avocado, cilantro; Four Cheese Lobster Mac; and a Whole Maine Lobster served with crispy fingerling potatoes, drawn butter.
The acclaimed Mediterranean restaurant Gianni’s at The Villa Casa Casuarina also known as the former Versace Mansion, offers a menu filled with dishes that are as opulent and lavish as the historic property. Iconic favorites include a beautiful Lobster Catalana starring poached Maine lobster, cherry tomatoes, red onion and potato.

Jaya, the Setai’s signature modern Asian restaurant helmed by executive chef Vijay Veena, serves up bold, unique flavors from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India, China and Japan. Among their most popular dishes is the Spicy Lobster with Thai Green Curry, eggplant, bell peppers, fingerling potatoes and Thai Basil.

Acclaimed chef Michael Mina’s Maine Lobster Pot Pie is a signature favorite that fulfills all lobster cravings while impressing guests with its elegance and luxury.
