MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – On October 30th, Miami Beach welcomed a new eatery in SoFi (South of Fifth) from one of the most acclaimed pizza makers in the world, Italian chef Gino Sorbillo. The new restaurant, named ‘Gino Sorbillo Real Pizza’, is located on Collins Avenue and offers classic and seasonal Neapolitan dishes.
The menu offers a list of Neapolitan-style pizzas, pizza fritta, calzones, antipasti and pastas. Also, the South Beach location operates the same way it does in Milan, it only offers a set number of pizzas a day on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the rest of the menu is available until the kitchen closes.
Sorbillo shared, “The opening of the ‘Gino Sorbillo Real Pizza in Miami Beach’, has been a long-time in the making, and the main characteristic is that only 250 pizzas are baked every day, no more, and when they are finished my pizzeria closes.”
He is well-known for his delicious dishes in Italy, where endless lines form at his restaurants; he also has two in New York City and a recently-opened location in Tokyo. Sorbillo explained, “My pizzeria in Miami is very similar to those in Tokyo, New York, Milan and Rome. I focus on always offering my clients the same quality, in products and service.”
Adding, “My pizza is the real Neapolitan pizza you eat in Naples, and I think that it is important people do no forget which is the original Neapolitan pizza – different from the many similar products they can find everywhere.”
In terms of picking the location for his latest restaurant, Sorbillo explained said, “I love the city of Miami, I have been there many times, and I think it is the perfect city for me. People are very kind and everything works really well. […] Miami is a beautiful city and for me it was a dream to have an ‘oven’ in this place.”
Some of Sorbillo’s famous light soft-crust Neapolitan-style pies are Sorbillo’s own margherita, classic marinara, and specialty pies like carbonara with truffle, that combines guanciale, egg yolk, buffalo mozzarella, black truffle, basil, and olive oil with cracked black pepper, are found on the menu with prices from $9 to $28.
For non-meat eaters, there is also a vegan pie made with dairy-free cheese, mixed vegetables, and olive oil for $20. Other great options are Sorbillo’s famous pizza fritta (fried pizza dough), calzones, an assortment of antipasti small plates, main dishes, pasta, and dessert.
Gino Sorbillo Real Pizza, is located at 100 Collins Ave, Miami Beach. For more information and reservations call 305-281-0588, they are open Sunday through Thursday 12PM until 12AM, Friday and Saturday 12PM until 1AM.
