MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – On Saturday, December 7th 2019, residents of Miami Beach’s North Beach neighborhood are hosting the 6th annual North Beach Boat Parade which is being sponsored by the City of Miami Beach and Urban Resource. The event is back by popular demand and will be held from 7PM until 9PM.
Everybody can register the boats and participate on them with lights and music this year for the annual North Beach Boat Parade, which can watched from other other boats or from the shore. Organizer Carolina Jones shared, “One of our main objectives has always been to keep it a very community based route. We really see us as neighbors celebrating holidays with neighbors.”
“Those who decorate their houses along the route, are as much as part of the show as the boats. We also have more official boats coming so the show is in honor of all the men and women who serve our community and that ranges from the fire department, the police, the coast guard and others.” She added.
People are encouraged to watch from public areas; in Normandy there is the Fitness Circuit across from Golf Course; in Normandy Sud the Trouville Esplanade and Rue Bordeaux Mini Parks; in Indian Creek at 69th St Open Space park behind Fire Station 4; and Brittany Bay Park at 64th and Collins, next to Shane Rowing Center.
This tropical holiday celebration started in 2013 by a few friends and neighbors who had the idea to decorate their boats and docks to celebrate the holidays in a Miami Beach style. Through the years, the parade has grown as neighbors have put all the effort and worked together to make it happen, and now the expanded route takes the parade along the entire west shoreline of North Beach.
The City of Miami Beach and Urban Resource are the proud sponsors of the North Beach Boat Parade this year and with their help, the event this year is expected to be the largest to date.
The schedule starts at 6PM where boat staging begins at the northeast corner of Stillwater Park, 8440 Hawthorne Avenue; at 7PM Parade begins and runs until approximately 9PM when they arrive at Brittany Bay Park Indian Creek and 69th, behind Fire Station.
All captains must attend the mandatory Captains meeting today, Wednesday, December 4th. Motor and Sail vessels are welcome to join for a $30 entry fee. To get decorating tips and more information see here.
