MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – The twelfth Flamenco Festival Miami will take place in the Adrienne Arscht Center this March 13th to 16th at 8PM, with a matinee March 17th at 2PM. The internationally famous flamenco dancer, Sara Baras with the Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras, will be the star of the performances in a very awaited artistic return to the city.
Last time she visited Miami in 2015, her performances were completely sold out, as she captivated the audience with her impressive technique and incomparable passion, rhythm and charisma. This time only promises to be better.
A show direct from Spain and not to be missed, as Baras is a flamenco icon that has choreographed different shows, and had given more than 4,000 performances worldwide. The Guardian calls her “woman who can dance up not just a flamenco storm, but a hurricane.”
Of course her talent (nurtured mainly with by her mother and teacher, Concha Baras) has also been recognized universally, as she has been awarded Spain’s highest honor in dance, the National Dance Award, France’s Medaille de Vermeil de la Villa de Paris, Kennedy Center’s Gold Medal in the Arts and the National Dance Gold Medal of Andalucía, where flamenco was born.
The Flamenco Festival headlined by Sara Baras is a show worthy of the most prestigious stages in the world, and Miami’s Arscht Center is no exception. The organization stated “Flamenco Festival Miami has become one of the premier flamenco events in the country, its power and majesty enjoyed by more than 40,000 people in our community.”
Adding, “This season’s headlining company – Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras – promises to bring to Miami the rich flamenco tradition with the modern new twists that herald the new world of flamenco dance growing in Spain.”
The Adrienne Arscht Center is located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, and ticket prices range from $25 to $125.
