What just happened in Puerto Rico?: A Panel Discussion @ St Stephen’s Episcopal Church (Miami) – The past 2 weeks we have seen an amazing democratic exercise by the people of Puerto Rico. Join as they listen to our knowledgeable panelists discuss how we got here, how and why the protests happened, where Puerto Rico goes from here, and what we can learn about this process.

They will be gathering at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Coconut Grove for a panel discussion with Puerto Rican advocates and activists on the current political crisis on the island and its broader political context.

This panel is for allies who want to understand this process further. As allies, it is critical that we work to inform ourselves enough to be effective in our advocacy for our friends and neighbors from Puerto Rico. They are honored to have the opportunity to listen to folks who have been working around the clock for the people of America’s most populous unrepresented territory, and they hope you’ll join them for an evening of education.

Visit the event page for more details.

Bodega South Beach (South Beach)
When you first show up at Bodega, you could easily mistake it for a popular neighborhood taqueria. Look around for a guy with an earpiece at the back of the room and tell him your friend sent you, and you might just get directed to a back door that looks like an entrance to a Porta Potti. Pass through here and you’ll enter a graffiti-filled men’s washroom. It’s only after passing through yet another door that you will enter one of South Beach’s hot hidden nightclubs. The mixologists have an extensive menu that relies heavily on “illegal” mezcal, and the DJ keeps the room pumping all through the night. It caters to a friendly, over 21’s crowd and makes for a good introduction to the South Beach scene minus the cover charge and lineups that you’ll find at clubs closer to the beach.
Bodega South Beach – Monday – Sunday from 12PM – 4AM.
1222 16th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Mac’s Club Deuce ♣️ (Miami Beach)
Laid-back ambiance, rustic decor, pool tables & jukebox make this SoBe institution a local hangout. What Mac’s Club Deuce has done in South Beach is nothing short of a miracle. Miami Vice threw its cast party here. Playboy named it one of the best bars in America. And the late Anthony Bourdain said it was one of his favorite spots in the world. In a city that changes like an indecisive chameleon, an island always for sale to the highest bidder, Mac’s joint has remained a pristine, neon-lit paradise untouched by outside forces.

Purdy Lounge (Miami Beach)
Avoid the crowds on Ocean Drive and head to Purdy’s, an off-the-beaten-path location with a loyal following. Get some friends together for drinks and checkers, backgammon, or even good ole Connect Four as you enjoy a pleasant mix of music and some of the lowest drink prices around. This off-the-beaten-path bar has the beer-hall vibe of a street corner hook-up joint with a touch of South Beach strut.
