MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28th, the Baptist Health South Florida Turkey Trot Miami 5K/10K and Kids Race will get started early at the Tropical Park on SW 40th Street. The 2019 Turkey Trot Miami offers family fun for all runners, joggers and walkers with a distance for every age and pace.
Nicole Bostick, Senior Brand Manager at Life Time explained, “Thanksgiving is the most popular running day in the country, and we’re proud to count our race as contributor to that statistic. We’re one of the oldest Turkey Trot’s in South Florida, at over fifteen years’ strong!”
Participants can choose between the 5K or 10K distance and also children are welcome to be registered for the Kids Race (ages 2-9). The start line, finish line, and turkey day tailgate finish festival are all centrally located within the Tropical Park.
Race day registration is from 5AM to 6:30 AM, and Bostick expects a big turnout again this year. “We’ve had roughly 5,600 registrants in both 2018 and 2017. We’re currently at 4,200, which is in line with last year at this time.”
“As we accept registrations through race day, we expect 2019 will end up with similar numbers, if not more, given the mild weather forecasted this week. Additionally, we’re excited to debut new race features this year, including a prize purse and a petting zoo for kids which will attract even more runners.”
As far as highlights to the race this year Bostick shared, “This event is the ultimate family 5K. We will have a petting zoo, face painting, oversized lawn games, balloon art, turkey bowling and of course, the fun photo opp with our 20-foot-tall Perky Turkey.”
